New Details about the Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo held a press conference in Japan tonight to announce new details about the 3DS, including when we will see the device released and how much it will cost.

The Nintendo 3DS will first be released in Japan on February 26 for 25000 yen, or roughly $300 American (ouch). It will then be released in the United States and Europe sometime in March, however no price point has been announced.

Among the new features announced today for the 3DS is an enhanced Tag Mode, which allows users to exchange data with each other without the need to have the game in the 3DS at the time. The 3DS can store and send data for multiple games at once, unlike its predecessor.

Nintendo also revealed the final design of the 3DS (which you can see at the top of this post). Also announced was that the 3DS will have its own Virtual Console featuring original Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games. It will also come packaged with a 2GB SD card, and users will be able to create custom Mii based off of photos of themselves. Capcom also announced a new Resident Evil and Mega Man game are being developed for the portable device.
