Acclaimed play The Pitmen Painters will not extend run
Lee Halls play The Pitmen Painters will not be extending its Broadway run at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre past December 12th (its original scheduled closing date). The play which has seen acclaim from both London and New York critics tells the story of the Ashington Group miners from Northumberland who became celebrated artists. The five men in the play are a theatrical representation of more than 30 members of the group. The characters also include a "dental mechanic" and an unemployed fellow; they are not miners.
